SBT is going to hold two new Communication Booster training courses in Summer Term. Communication Boosters are designed to provide a combination of information, strategies and top tips to support communication through fun, informative and practical sessions.
This term’s courses are:
1pm-3pm, 3rd May
1pm-3pm, 5th July
Both courses will be held in Bromley Central Library (High Street, Bromley BR1 1EX). The price for each course is £25 per person.
A big thank you to everyone who attended our Communication Booster training package, which Shivani delivered on vocabulary-building on Friday. It was a great turn-out: we had TAs, LSAs and SENCos from Bromley and south-east London schools, as well as SLT students from City, University of London.
The course provided a brief overview of how we acquire language, along with some helpful hints and tips to support SLCN in both primary and secondary schools. It was lovely to hear that our attendees will be looking to come along to our future Communication Boosters.
We hope that with the resources we provided, you can apply your newly learnt skills in the classroom.
Here at Sarah Buckley Therapies we are committed to promoting excellence in the field of speech and language therapy. This means that we value ongoing learning and skill development. We do this through placing a strong emphasis on continuing professional development for our own therapists at our practice and through offering a wide range of training and learning opportunities for others working with children with speech, language and communication needs. This blog is just one of the ways that we like to share ideas and strategies to support children’s speech, language and communication development.
We offer a range of learning and training opportunities for individuals at any stage of their speech and language career, whether you’re just embarking on your journey to becoming a speech and language therapist or are a qualified therapist looking to develop new skills.
We are also committed to providing quality training to parents, carers or those who work with children in schools. We know that we can have the greatest impact on children’s speech, language and communication development by upskilling those who support the child on a daily basis: parents, carers and teaching staff.
At the moment training opportunities that we offer include:
A work experience programme for individuals who are interested in speech and language therapy as a career
Communication Booster workshops for speech and language therapystudents and prospective students
Communication Booster workshops for school staff
Communication Booster workshops for parents/carers
Makaton training for teaching staff and speech and language therapists
