A successful speech sound workshop for SBT

Some of the exercises at the SBT speech sound workshop

On Friday afternoon, the SBT team met for a refresher workshop on phonetic transcription and speech sound work. Discussions were based around a recent article in IJLCD, which looks at the experience of clinicians on the ground working with speech sound disorders.

We were really lucky to be joined by two students from University of Essex and City, University of London, to lend their views and much more recent clinical learning about this particular area.

Key findings from the team were that in general we need to do more transcription practice to build our confidence

Going forward we would really like to work on refreshing knowledge of vowels and do more connected speech transcription.

Watch this space for our thoughts on further clinical workshops!
